This May, Oregon voters headed to the polls to shape the future of education and representation across the state. This election showed the strength of community organizing, the impact of values-driven leadership, and our collective vision for thriving, inclusive schools.
At APANO Action Fund, we are proud to announce that 14 of our 18 endorsed candidates have won their races in this special election! We are so honored and proud of the hard work that these campaigns have put into their journeys.

We are thrilled to celebrate the victories of these exceptional leaders who have been elected to serve on school boards across 9 school districts in Oregon. Sending a huge congratulations to:
Beaverton School District Board Members Dr. Vân Truong (Zone 1) and Syed Qasim (Zone 5)
Bend-La Pine School District Board Members Marcus LeGrand (Zone 2) and Ross Tomlin (Zone 6)
Centennial School District Board Member William Mohring (Zone 3)
Corvallis School District Board Members Dr. Sami Al-Abdrabbuh (Zone 1), Luhui Whitebear (Zone 4), Shauna Tominey (Zone 5), and Bernie Wang (Zone 7)
Multnomah Education Service District Board Member Jessica Arzate (Position 4)
North Clackamas School District Board Member Samantha Tamtreng (Zone 5)
Portland Public School District Board Members Rashelle Chase-Miller (Zone 4) and Stephanie Engelsman (Zone 6)
Springfield School Board Member Heather Quaas-Annsa (Position 2)
And last but not least, we are thrilled to see the Portland Public Schools Bond (Measure 26-259) PASS this year as well, prioritizing building and school safety!
While some of the races didn’t go in our favor, we know that all of these local leaders bring a strong commitment to public education, community voice, and equity-centered leadership inspires us. We are proud to stand alongside these candidates and campaigns as they continue this important chapter in shaping inclusive, thriving schools where all students can succeed.
Thank you to all the campaign teams, volunteers, families, APANO AF team members, and many others who have come together to put in the work this special election season. Whether it was door knocking, text and phone banking, or simply sharing our voter guide with neighbors, these changes and successes would not be possible without those in our community.
As an example, we ended up sending over 50,000 text messages in the final three weeks of the campaign and managed to drive 17x as many views to our statewide voter guide as our highest viewed voter guide in any previous election cycle.
With another election cycle completed, we know that the work is still not complete – and building power doesn’t stop at the ballot box. With so many changes and developments on a local, state, and national level, now is the time to work together to ensure we build the future we deserve.
Please continue to show up, speak out, and support leadership that will fight for and with us. If you have the resources, support APANO Action Fund in our efforts to build political power and agency for our Oregon families by donating to our work. Together, we’re transforming our schools and systems to better serve every child, every family, and every community.
