Darren

Darren Balauro is Filipino, Chinese, and Native Hawaiian. His parents are from the islands of Hawai’I (O’ahu and Kaua’i) and he was born and raised in Los Angeles, California. He grew up between both States, which has shaped his strong Asian and Pacific Islander identities, his appreciation for diverse cultures, and his commitment to advocate for vulnerable populations.

Darren studied at the University of California, San Diego, and completed his Bachelor of Science in Biochemistry. During his career he has worked across several industries: Healthcare, Aerospace and Defense, and Nonprofit. He currently works in Portland, Oregon as the Director of Finance and Operations at Familias en Acción.

In his personal time, Darren loves traveling internationally, and exploring different cities and cultures. He can also be found hiking around Oregon with his wife, going on runs, or cooking a meal from scratch at home.
